AICTE stands for All India Council for Technical Education or, Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Parishad AICTE was established in 1945, as Advisory Body.

in 1987 Indian Parliament passed one Bill to made AICTE a legal Body. which comes under MHRD. and works under the Department of Higher Education.
AICTE main work is to maintain the

Every day some development is there in technical education so the technical education of India should be latest and updated.
All India Council for Technical Education ensures that Promotion of technical education so that the number of students attracts Technical education.

- Engineering, MBA, MCA
- DIPLOMA, PHARMACY and some distance courses can have AICTE approval.
any engineering college will have branch wise AICTE approval, not necessary to have all branches approved.

Who Need Approval
- For Technical Education All India Council for Technical Education Approval is a must.
Approval Not Compulsory for
- UGC approved Deemed Universities
- Self Financed Universities
- State Universities
These Universities will not compulsory require to get All India Council for Technical Education approval.
but if these universities are going to Affiliate any college, then that college will need AICTE approval is a must.
along with this, some autonomous colleges are also exempted from the All India Council for Technical Education approval.
so if you are going to Join any UGC approved University for Technical course. and that University is not All India Council for Technical Education approved, then also you needed not to worry.
just you have to ensure that University is UGC Approved. you can join any Government sector Jobs or private sector or else you want to go for higher education. there won’t be any problem.
Why So Many Universities Will Not Get Approval?
So many UGC approved colleges or Universities are not opting for All India Council for Technical Education approval. the reason behind that is the restriction in the number of seats.
as soon as the All India Council for Technical Education approval will be given to the college. the branch intake will be limited.
for example:-
you can see that maximum no. of colleges those who are having All India Council for Technical Education approval.
their Mechanical or Electrical engineering branch intake will be from 60 to a maximum of 120.
whereas, there are no such restrictions in UGC approved colleges or Universities.
So the maximum no. of admission in any branch is possible Through UGC approval only. That will produce maximum economic growth and also able to study more students at university.
that’s why UGC approved Universities are not opting for AICTE approval.
Is IIT’s Approved by AICTE?
friends, many among who are not aware of the All India Council for Technical Education status of IIT.
You will be surprised to know that IITs are not having AICTE approval.
IITS which are the best engineering institutions of our country are not having All India Council for Technical Education approval.
They are not All India Council for Technical Education approved. Actually IITs are Autonomous institutions, which have the status of National importance.
so they don’t need the All India Council for Technical Education approval.

If my university is AICTE approved but not UGC approved, will there be any problem?
if any institute uses the University word it should be approved by UGC. as per your question I think you are studying in AICTE Approved College under any other university.
