Is there any job other than clinical jobs in physiotherapy?
8 different job alternatives in Physiotherapy.
There are 8 different job alternatives in BACHELOR OF PHYSIOTHERAPY BPT profession. I have chosen to share it with you.
- Jobs in Government Hospital and corporate hospital:- Everyone is looking for government jobs, there are several vacancies will issue every year in the state and central government by giving advertised on the newspaper you can search for it and you can apply for the government job. You can also apply for corporate hospitals like Apollo, Yashoda, KIMS, and AIIMS other corporate hospitals.
- They give a handsome salary as a fresher. So after getting inside the Hospital what kind of jobs you can get? You might be posted into 5 different departments, The first is physiotherapy OPD. Physiotherapy OPD is just like a consultation where the patient will come to consult you and you will devise a treatment plan and gives treatment to your patient.
- Indoor Physiotherapy:- Postoperatively after the surgery the patient who is admitted inside the Indoor, needs Physiotherapy. So you might be given a duty to give a visit to indoor patients and prescribe exercises and teach them exercises.
- Intensive Care Unit or ICU:- Yes in the present scenario Physiotherapy has grown to such an extent that we also have a role in ICU. In ICU we have a role in maintaining the joint motion joint mobility that reduces the swelling of the extremities. The physiotherapist also helps in clearing the secretion, the secretion that is accumulated due to the rest period in the ICU.
- Rehabilitation Department:- Rehabilitation department deals with so many varieties of cases like neurological cases, paralysis, paraplegia, hemiplegia, quadriplegia or cerebral palsy cases, autistic cases. All these cases you have to deal with in the rehabilitation department. Sometime physiotherapist has to deal amputee cases, give them walk training or gait training. The second career scope option for Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) passed students is a physiotherapy clinic. A fresher struggling with his career can also land up in a physiotherapy clinic or Physiotherapy Centre/rehabilitation center that is well established. Although you won’t be Fair pain Handsome salary on the physiotherapy clinic you will get a very good exposure on how to handle a Physiotherapy Centre If you are planning to have your own in the future. You will get how to market yourself you will get an idea on how to deal with the patient, how to talk with the patients, these things are very important in addition to how do you treat how you cure your patient. These aspects are also very important. So the third point is a special school. Special schools are different from normal schools, these schools are meant for the differently-abled children the children who are physically disabled or mentally disabled. They have a different set of arrangements in the school they have got a special educator who teaches them they are different from the normal teachers. Their way of teaching is different. There is a rehabilitation department where physiotherapists have got a very important role in treating those physically disabled children. They handle physically disabled children in Association with an occupational therapist, speech therapist and other therapists Fourth point Is sports Physiotherapy. Nowadays every major team maybe cricket, football, hockey every major state team or National level team has a physiotherapist with them. But you have to do a special course that is called a sports Physiotherapy course after the completion of graduation. It is a very competitive field it is very difficult to get into it but it is one of the options.
- Government Disability Project:- Governments have lots of disability projects there are community-based rehabilitation projects inside the interior pockets of the parts of India. Like Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan National Rural Health Mission, NRHM. All these have projects related to disability. So you can apply for it through the advertisements and you can get into it, it’s very good to start your career with, but it is not good to carry on it. for being a fresher it is a good career option.
- Non-Governmental Organization (Ngos). There are established NGOs who also pays very handsome salary to their physiotherapist, like Handicap International. It is an international level NGO that pay very good to their rehab professionals. There are also state levels NGOs you can join them to start your career with.
- The seventh point Is Academics / Teaching:- Every year new Physiotherapy colleges are coming in your city or in your area. So look for the colleges there and apply for as a professor as a lecturer. It is very good for a female physiotherapist who does not want to involve herself in clinical jobs; it’s a 5 to 8 job and good for a female physiotherapist.
- Entrepreneurship:- After getting 2 to 3 years of experience in working in clinics and dealing with patients you can set up your own clinic. Setting up your own clinics it’s a difficult task but if you get the success you will it will fetch you like anything.
